The Interface / Toolbar

Subtitles of the Movie

Combustion's Toolbar is context-sensitive and changes based on what it is that you're currently working with. For example, I have this picture selected that I created in LightWave of the planet Earth, who is sick because of the Global Warming: hint, hint, hint, hint. That was my conservation message. So if I choose something else, for example I'll choose this film footage and I'll right click and add an operator to it. Let's go ahead and add a Paint Operator to it. All of sudden the tools change. If I go back to this Earth one and I double click on it, you see that I have tools that allow me to do exactly that; whatever it is that associates itself with being on this level of the composite. I'll double click on my Paint Operator and the tools change. I have a lot more tools this time. Now, I'm going to jump over to Photoshop just to show you the comparison; that when you click on a tool in Photoshop, the Toolbox or Toolbar itself does not change. However, the properties up here do change, which gives you quick access to changing how you work with that tool. But Combustion does have something similar. When I choose a tool, the controls for that tool appear down here. So I'll spend more time talking about that in another moment, but I'm going to click on my Gaussian Blur and just show you that the controls completely changed. So it's kind of important to realize that the way tools work in Combustion are completely different from tools in other applications. So you have to keep your eye on the tools that change within the Toolbar itself and also down here with the controls that correspond with whatever operator it is that you're going to employ with your footage or onto your footage. So just keep that in mind and you'll get used to it after a while. So you don't have to once again dig through menus to find things. You'll do everything from here and from here inside of Combustion.
