Subtitles of the Movie

Sometimes when you're editing footage and you want to go from one scene or shot into another you don't always want it to literally jump from one cut to another. We want to have a nice Transition and Combustion provides that for you over here in our Edit Controls with the Transition Section of Controls. What it requires is two things, first it requires you to select more then one clip or to cut the clip you're working on into two pieces. So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to click right about here the Cut Button, so once again I position my playback head click Cut and now I have two separate pieces of footage that I can build a Transition from. The second thing the Transition needs is Frames on which to build the Transition Effect. Let me just show you what I'm talking about. I'll place my playback head right in between these two and I'll choose my type of Transition to a Dissolve, I'll click Insert but nothing happens. That's because this clip uses the full range of frames and so does this one. So we need to shorten one of these a little bit so that Combustion has some frames that are hidden in the background so we can build a Transition. So what happens is, it takes those that are hidden and it applies the Transition to them so I can blend that into another clip. This time I'll try it again, so I'll put my mouse right in the middle and hit Insert and we should have a transition right in the middle, hold on let me see if I can get it going there. There we go, it wasn't right in the middle so we have our Transition and it's indicated by this guy right here. I can increase the duration based on how any frames I have to work with and I can click and drag my mouse like so and I can also click and drag the playback head to Preview it. See the difference there? It goes from one Fade into another and then we have our next clip. I can also take this Transition and hit Delete on my keyboard if I no longer want it. Another Option of course is to click on it and just disable it. So its still there its just disabled and you might want to do that instead because you might change your mind or client might change his mind and say I really want that transition back the way you had it. So this way you don't have to remember where you put it. I'm going to put that back on and I can also change the type to a Wipe. As you see here a Wipe simply slides one part of the film into another, this is an example of a Left Wipe, I can do a Right Wipe, I can also do an Up and of course a Down. So once again a Transition is simply a way for you to insert some device that allows you to quickly blend between two pieces of footage so that you have a nice smooth Transition instead of just a harsh cut.
