Subtitles of the Movie

This time we're going to animate the text but in a different way. We're going to use a Vector Path and this is really good when you want to show the text moving from one side of the screen to the other or going around in a circle or spiral or simulating a roller coaster or anything really cool like that. And we're also going to do this with a Text Operator. So we're going to go to File, New and we're going to choose Text as the operator and as usual, we want to have some duration here. click OK. In the Toolbar click on the T and in your Text Editor type any word you like. I'll type Fast and I'm going to change my font, as usual, to something thick like Arial Black. Now, what we're going to do here is something different. We're going to go to this Advanced Button right here. This is a section called Path Options and currently it's set to a type of None. I'm going to choose from this list Path. All of a sudden, that bounding box that was in None changes into a path and it's a Vector Path. As you can see, I can bend it, I can do all kinds of stuff with this path, which is really handy. So what I suggest you do is get your path in the position that you'd like to start with because, believe it or not, this path will animate itself. So if I have the Animate Button on and I'm in some other frame and I go to another frame, the path itself will move. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to just twist this guy around a little bit and I'm going to click on the path itself when I see the little plus sign to add some more points. I'm going to create at least a little loop-de-loop thing here and I'll move this down like so and I'll pull this handle up like this. That's the really nice thing about the handles. You have a lot of control and you can bring this handle in, you can make this like a nice little spiral. It just takes a little practice. The shorter the handles, the more control you typically have. So you can grab it like this and you have more control over the text. OK. So we have the path where we want it. I can also grab the beginning and move the word down. And I'll just go ahead and fix this a little bit more and what we can do at this point is turn on Animate. Then we'll jump to the last frame. Now, this is the really fun part. You might think that you would have to enter, you know, with the spacebar a couple of times or tab to move this text. Instead, we're going to use this guy here called Path Offset. Currently it's at zero percent. This means that the text is at the very beginning of this path. So what we can do is click and move this text along the path like so. And since we have Animate on, that means we can scrub and see the animation. That's really, really cool. Another cool thing you can do, by the way, is to really help your animation look more realistic, think about adding a little rotation. As you see here, the text is pretty straight, but it's going to dip right here and it's still standing too straight. So let's take our rotation and we'll dip it a little bit like this as it gets to this point. So at the beginning it's straight and it starts to dip and I really want to get the rotation going down as it gets more speed going. So let' go ahead and see what it looks like. So it's fast, faster and then at the end of the animation, we can go ahead and get that offset back to normal. Let's rewind, turn Animate off, click any word to deselect and press Play. Don't forget; at any time you can change your path, you can add more points to it if you need to and you can continue to modify your animation.
