Plot Preview in AutoCAD is much enhanced. Plot Preview has been around since AutoCAD made the move onto Windows but what we've got now in our Output Tab in the Ribbon here is we've actually got a Preview Icon. Again, in older versions of AutoCAD you have a Preview Button on your Standard Toolbar. You can also go to the Preview on the Pull-Down Menu as well. So Preview is here. Click on Preview and it previews your plot as per the settings that you've got set. So you'll see there I've got a Plot Preview of my GA, of my drawing and I can zoom in and zoom out just like I would using AutoCAD. I can pan using the wheel on the mouse. Hold down the wheel and pan and I can roll the wheel up and down to zoom in and zoom out but as I zoom in, look. Look at the detail. There's the thickness of those lines as per what we've got set up in our Page Setup. So everything is there. If I double click, that does a zoom extents. Notice here I have other tools as well; Pan, Zoom, I've even got Zoom Window. So if I click on Zoom Window, I can click, drag, release and it'll zoom in. I can then pan again and so on. If I right click, I can pan and zoom, I can zoom back to the original that I had when I first opened up the preview as well. Notice here I also have Zoom Original as well so it's on the Toolbar here. It's also right click on the Shortcut Menu. So that's Plot Preview for you. Let me just Exit that Plot Preview though. What I can do now, that is using a particular page setup. Let's go into our Page Setup Manager. So at the moment the GA Plan is using the A3 Landscape Page Setup. Let's change that. Let's change it to the A4 Landscape Check Plot here. So I'll double click on that. It's now got a different page setup. So if I just go to Modify there, what am I using? It's Monochrome CTB. Let's change that to let's say ACAD CTB like so and I'll OK that now for my A4 Landscape Check Plot Page Setup. It'll ask me whether I want to update that to other layouts. I'll say Yes to that and then close. So I'm using a different page setup. So when I go back to Plot Preview now, it looks different. It's using colors now so when I zoom in now, I've got color. And this is what they call a WYSIWYG; What You See is What You Get Preview. So that's exactly what you're going to get when you plot. So I'll go back to Zoom Original there like so, I'll right click and I'll Exit my Preview. Notice though on the Shortcut Menu I've got the opportunity to plot. It's also up here on the Toolbar. So I'll just Exit that now. So that is Plot Preview; very quick, very easy to use and you can zoom in, pan, zoom out and also plot from the preview using the page setup that is currently set.
