Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical 2010: Basic Concepts Tutorials

Project Basics / Project Drawing List

Subtitles of the Movie

Let's have a look now at working with our Project Drawing List. We have our Project here, our ACADELE2010 and you can see the Project Drawing List there is at the top of the screen, it's also in bold in our Projects showing that it's the current drawing. Now, as I said previously, our numbering convention for this project is not good, because all the drawings have the same number. Now we created Project Files first, so I'm going to right-click that drawing there and I'm going to rename it. I'm going to rename it 01, like so, in my Project and press Enter. That will automatically rename that in the Project itself, you'll see that there. Now, Project Manager was next, so I'm going to right-click that one, rename it and put there a 2. So I'll make that 02, like so. Now, Project Drawing List, the current drawing is actually 03. Now, OK, that's slightly confusing because we're in the third section of the title and I'm renaming the drawings with the 03 in front of them to let me know that I'm in the third section of the VTC Title. Little bit confusing, don't worry. What we'll do, for the next section when we start working there will be an entire project all set up with the proper numbering. All I'm doing here is demonstrating the Project Drawing List and how it works. Now, all of these here are listed. If I right-click now what I can do is go to Properties and I can go to the Drawing Properties, Apply Project Defaults, Settings Compare and so on. I can Copy drawings to and fro in the Project as well. So I can do that there. What I can also do, if I right-click here, Reorder Drawings. So if I Reorder now you can see there, look, I can move them up and down. So what I want to do now is I want 01 there to move up, so I'll go 01, 02, 03. If I OK that now, 01, 02, 03. Like the IECDEMO below, 01, 02, 03. They're just drawings at the end of the day, but watch. I need to check by going to Add Drawing, so I'll select that there and I'll go to Add Drawings; have I renumbered the drawings in the Folder? Yes I have, look: 01, 02, 03. So those drawings have actually renumbered in the Folder as well, so when you renumber here it renumbers in the Folder as well. It's not like Sheet Sets where all you're doing is renaming the sheet in the Sheet Set. So, be very careful when you do that with your AutoCAD Electrical Projects because when you renumber drawings in a project you're renumbering them in your Project Folder as well, so just be careful of that one and then once you're renumbered obviously you reorder like I've done there.
