OK, so we've looked at generating a new drawing, it's there, 03a-COMP SCHEM1. That's our drawing with our table on it from our report from our Set File that we created. So let's have a look at actually automating an actual report now. So what we've got to do, we've got to go back to our Reports tab here like so and then we'll Save our drawing and before we do anything else Add our drawing to our Project. So it's a right-click on the Project, Add the Active Drawing, Yes to the Default Values. So, there's AUTOMATING REPORTS there. We'll right-click, Properties, Drawing Properties, that needs to be Value 04 like so and we'll OK that. Now for some strange reason the COMP SCHEM1 needs renumbering again, so I'll right-click that, Properties, Drawing Properties - keep an eye on that because it does sometimes do that - so we'll put 03a in there again and we'll OK that. As you can see that all updates nice and neatly so our Project is all now numerically fluid if you see what I mean. OK, so we need Report Format Setup again on the Reports tab, Miscellaneous Panel. So we go there. Now, we're going to do another Component Report like so. It's going to be Schematic and what we're going to do this time we're going to save the report to a file and it's going to be an Excel Spreadsheet. We're going to Include the Project Values and what we're going to do, we're actually going to give it a File name now so it'll export straight out to this file. So I'll Browse. I want to go to Desktop here, I'm going to put it on my Desktop again like before and we'll give it a File name of AUTOMATE. Easy to remember, like so and then I'll Save that. So that's ready to go. So I'll OK that now. I'm not going to change anything else. I'm just going to do a Save As Format file and what we'll do, we'll call it comp schem and instead of the 1 we'll have, in this case, let's say XLS, because we know it's an Excel Spreadsheet and I'll save that. Yes I do want to replace that one and that is now done. All done and ready to go. Save our drawing, we'll do an Automatic Report, like so, we want a Component Report there, we're going to use the XLS Set there and we're going to Add. No Drawing Name this time, remember. We don't have to add it to a drawing. It's going to an Excel Spreadsheet, so I'll OK that now and, as you can see, it's calculated that there. Format out of 12 and it's sent it to automate.xls there on the Command Line. So all I need to do now is an Alt-Tab. There's Excel there waiting for me. There's my video totals. Ignore those. And I'm going to go to Desktop there and there's our AUTOMATE, double-click, there's our Report. Now I haven't put much in that report. I didn't change any of the fields or anything like that, but that's generated automatically an Excel Spreadsheet for you, so you can automate very, very quickly and very, very easily using AutoCAD Electrical as well, so your Reporting Tools don't just have to be graphical. They can go into an Excel Spreadsheet. They can go into a database on a network system within your organization, for example.
