Using Dynamic Blocks / Exercise: Using the Block Editor pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

Now, back to the Block Editor tab and what I'm going to do here is I'm actually going to move my Block and everything that goes with it, so let's zoom out a little. I'm going to select everything like so. I'm then going to right-click and move it. Now I'm going to move it from that corner there and I need it to go to 0,0. So what I need to do here is I need to actually place it on the 0,0 there. So it says Specify second point. So what I've got to do here is I've actually got to put a hash like so. So if I put a hash that's absolute coordinates and then I put naught comma naught and press Enter. You'll see that that moves to the origin. Now there's a reason why I've done that and you'll see why shortly, but what I need to do now is save the Block and click on Close, like so and that'll take me back into the drawing again now and what I'm going to do is I'm now going to go to Insert. Now I can do that on my Insert tab in the Block Panel here; there's Insert there, or I can do it on the Home tab and I've also got Insert there. Now you'll notice the only block in the drawing is my Dynamic Door. Insertion point, I'll specify that on the screen. I'll leave the Scale at 1 and the Rotation at zero. When I OK that now, though look. The Insertion point is on that corner of the door which is where I want it to be. I don't want it to be anywhere else. It needs to be 0,0. So always move your Insertion point of your Block in the Block Editor to 0,0. So now when I touch on that midpoint there it aligns perfectly to the wall. Now if I click on that door there's the Alignment Parameter there, if I touch this one, look. It aligns with that wall. If I touch there it aligns with that wall. I want it to align with that little vertical part of the wall opening there. Now here's my Flip Parameter. If I click here, look, I can flip the door opening from side to side. Isn't that cool? Very easy, very quick. Saves me having to mirror it all the time when I insert it into the drawing. So make sure you do this Exercise 2 and understand how the Block Editor works and, more importantly, how your Dynamic Blocks work after you've created them using your Block Editor.
