We're now going to look at creating a new Palette Group for our Palette in Exercise 5. Now you'll notice we've got lots and lots of different tabs here. Each one of these is a different Palette, so if I clicked on Mechanical there you'll see there now that I've got lots of tools there on my Tool Palette that are mechanical. Things like: Hexagonal head bolts, Valves, Equipment Labels and so on. Now I'll go back to my Blocks there. Obviously there are lots and lots and lots of tab there and if I click on this little conglomeration of tabs here at the bottom it will give me a list of every single tab that is available in that Tool Palette window. Now there are loads there and if I keep scrolling down and clicking on the arrow there, there are even more. Now I don't want that many. There's no way I want that many to show up on the screen at any one time. Ideally what I want to do is break my Palettes down into groups. Well, you can do that very easily. There are already some set up in AutoCAD as it is already. I'll right-click here on this Icon here. If I right-click there on the Icon on the Title Bar of the Tool Palettes there that will show me all the groups. It's the shortcut menu from Customize Commands upwards, but these are all groups: Annotation and Design, Parametric and so on. So if I select something like Architectural it'll now only show me the Tool Palette tabs in the Architectural group. You can see it update there and look, there's only one Architectural tab in the Architectural Group. So there's the Tool Palette tab there at the top. There is the Group there in the Title Bar. So it's saying: Tool Palettes, Architectural Group and you've got one Tool Palette in that Architectural Group which is also the Architectural tab. Now to get all of my tabs back again I just right-click on the Icon again here and select All Palettes at the bottom of the list there. That'll bring back all of the tabs as they were originally. Now it does take a few seconds, you'll notice. That's because there are so many tabs here in the list, so it has to search through them all, finding all the groups and so on. I'll just hit Escape to lose the list there. So what we're going to do is create a New Palette Group to put in our Blocks Palette here, so we right-click on the Title Bar and we go to Customize Palettes. Now what you'll find at the top of the list there is our Blocks Palette there. Now over here on the right are our Palette Groups so we're going to create a Palette Group so that we can insert our Blocks Palette into our Palette Group. So, what we need to do now is create that group. Now a little trick here. Always minimize all of the other groups. There are lots of other groups. It's just a little trick that I've learned over time and it just makes like that little bit easier. You'll see why in a second when we create the group. So make sure that you minimize all of those groups in the list and when you do minimize all of them you'll see that all you've got is a list of little yellow folders. So there we are. There are all my groups there. Now you see I've got a Furniture Group there already built in. It hasn't actually got any palettes in it. I'm just going to right-click on that and delete that group. I don't need it there. So, we need a new group, so I right-click in the Palette Groups area and select New Group. Now you'll notice Tables highlighted when I clicked. If I click on New Group that's where it places that new group straight into the Tables there. It all depends on where you click, that's why I minimized all of the groups because Tables now, where I clicked is the only group that is opened up to put that new group in. So what I'm going to do is call that new group DRAFTING, so I'm going to put it in capitals so that it stands out, like so and press Enter. So there's my new group. But at the moment it's a sub-group of Tables. So I click on DRAFTING here and I just left-click and drag - see the little black bar there, get that above Annotation and Design there and it drops your DRAFTING group to the top of the Palette Groups list. So what we do now is we now make sure that our Blocks here get put into our DRAFTING group. So I click on Blocks in the left-hand pane here and then I left-click and I drag. When the little black bar appears underneath DRAFTING like that and there's a Plus sign release and I've added my Blocks Palette now to my DRAFTING group. If I click on Close now and then right-click here on my little Icon you'll see I've got DRAFTING at the top of the list where I placed it. If I click on DRAFTING now you'll see that it goes to the DRAFTING group and I should have just my Blocks Palette there and there it is, look. Tool Palettes, DRAFTING Group with the Blocks Tool Palette in that group. To bring it back it's just a right-click and All Palettes. So as you can see in Exercise 5 there we've created a new Palette Group and we've put our Blocks Palette into that group. We're now going to move on to Exercise 6.
