There are times when you will need to create a section through your architectural design. So I've taken us into the 3D Modeling Workspace here and the reason I've done that is we need this Section Plan Command here. Now, before we do the Section Plane, over to the View Cube and get yourself set up in that Isometric on that corner there and we'll zoom in a little bit so that you guys can see what I'm doing. Now, when I click on Section Plane, it creates what they call a Section Object. It is actually a physical object and I'm going to select a face or any point to locate the section line as it says there on the dynamic input. Now, what I am going to do is I'm going to switch Polar on down here on the Status Bar as well. I may need it. And I just need a point somewhere on this face here. So if I hover, there's a face there. So I'll click on that face and that locates that section along that face for me. Now, if I select the section, because at the moment it's fairly useless going along the wall like that and then I right click, it's just like any object. I get the commands there. I can rotate it. So I'll pick a base point down here somewhere to rotate and I'll specify a rotation angle and I'll type in 90 degrees and Enter. Now, it looks like half your house has disappeared. It hasn't; don't worry. If I go down here on the Section Plane and what I'll do so that we can see more clearly, I've got a Flip Arrow there? Can you just see that if I click there, that flips the section and what we've done is we've cut the house in half. Now, I'm going to want that section there so what I'm going to quickly do is click on here, click on the Section, make sure it's selected and then I'm going to right click and I'm going to generate a 2D 3D Section off of the Shortcut Menu. There's the Dialog. I want 2D 3D Section Elevation, include all objects, insert as new block. Click on Create and what it does is it creates a block. Can you see that there? And if I click and just specify a Scale Factor of 1 for everything; so one for the X Factor, use the X Scale Factor there for one as well for the Y and then the Rotation Angle, 0, just press Enter like that. You'll see I've got a section there. it's not on the right layer yet but that doesn't matter. We can create a layer to put it on. But what I can also do is I can select the Section Plane again and what I can do is I can just click and drag it. So if I click here and just drag this along a bit to say about there, more of the house appears but I've got a different section so I can keep moving it around till my heart's content, until I get a different section like so and then again, Section Plan selected and it's a right click, Generate 2D 3D Section, Create because it remembers the settings from the last one. So I will just pop that say about there at the moment. It's in a bit of a silly place. You'll understand why in a minute. Just put the Scale Factors and the Rotation Angle in and then I can just click on that one. It's creating them as blocks so I can easily just right click and move that block, pick a base point and I'll pop it above the other section there. So that's how you basically create a section. Now, if we go into the GA Plan, takes a few seconds. I've left the section in place. You'll see it on the drawing there but can you see the sections there in the viewports? And even the Section Plan has kicked in on the GA Plan there. So if I go back to Model and what I'll do, I'll remove that section plane now, it takes a few seconds toing and froming with that section plane in place. If I delete it, there's my whole house back, go back to the GA Plan, everything back to normal. But you can see the sections there, yeah? There's the section. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to double click in this viewport here and what I want is a Top View. So I just need to basically go back to a Top View. So what I could do there, I could do Zoom if I wanted to and Pan and just position it where I wanted to. Really all I need is a top view. So if I go here on the View and select Top, rotate it for me, just going to pan a little bit there, zoom in a little bit there so I lose the actual house, zoom in a bit more and there's my two section just fitting that viewport. Double click outside the viewport and there's my sections. Quick and easy using the Section Plan.
