What we're going to look at now is Controlling Annotation Scale. Now we know that these dimensions here are Annotative. When we hover over them you can see the Annotative Symbol there, the little blue triangle, you can see it on that one there as well. Now the Annotative Scale applied to these Dimensions is currently 1 to 100. So how do you control that? How do you change that, or, more important, add a different Annotation Scale to a dimension? Well, it's very easy. What we'll do, we'll select both of these dimensions here. This one and this one. They're both Linear dimensions; they're both at the same Annotative Scale. If I now right-click and go to Annotative Object Scale, I can Add the current scale or Add-Delete scales. So what I'm going to do there is Add-Delete scales. As soon as I click there it gives me the Object Scale List for those dimensions, and the only one I've got there is 1 to 100, so if I click on Add I can add a different Annotative Scale. Let's go for, say, 1 to 50. If I click on OK there, 1 to 50 gets added to the list and I click on OK like so Ð nothing looks any different. That's not a problem. In the Model Space it's not an issue because they're not being displayed. Now, let's go to the A1-Landscape tab. At the moment they're not displaying at all on there because that Layer is actually turned Off in that Viewport, but let's create a new Viewport. If I go to View now, and I go to Viewports here, I need to create a New Viewport Ð it's this Icon here Ð New, and what I do there, I want a Single Viewport, I click on OK and I'm going to place the new Viewport from this Endpoint Snap here, left-click, I'll just drag it down this way. I'm not worried about the size of it. I can reshape it at any time. Now you'll notice here in this Viewport, again, none of them are displaying. That is because it's not at a known scale right now. That Viewport Scale is not at either 1 to 100 or 1 to 50. So what we need to do there is we need to set this Viewport to a known scale so that the Annotation Scales display. I'm going to double-click inside the Viewport and you'll see down at the bottom of the screen here you'll notice that my Viewport Scale is well out. I'm going to click on the arrow there and select 1 to 50.What I'm going to do now is pan, not zoom, and you'll notice there, look, you can see the dimensions appearing at the 1 to 50 Annotative Scale. So what I'm going to do here now, this is actually my Garage Detail Viewport, I'm just going to pan, and not zoom so I don't affect the scale, like so, and then what I'm going to do is double-click outside the Viewport, click on the Viewport itself Ð by double-clicking outside the Viewport I deactivate it so it just becomes an object Ð click on that grip there, and take this in a little bit like so to about there. Right-click and mov the Viewport using the Move on the Shortcut Menu, and I'm going to place that Viewport there. Now you'll notice when I zoom in make sure the Viewport is not active, otherwise you will change the size of the Viewport and the dimensions will not display. But as you can see there, there are my dimensions displaying nice and neatly at a scale of 1 to 50. If I double-click inside that Viewport you can see on the Status Bar there at the bottom of the screen, there's my 1 to 50. If I hit Escape there, just to make sure I've got no commands selected, double-click outside the Viewport. If I zoom out slightly now and double-click on this Viewport here you'll see that it's 1 to 100 at the bottom of the screen. Double-click outside the Viewport and zoom in, and also those ordinate dimensions there display at the same size as these dimensions here. Two different scales, but the dimensions look consistent on the drawing. That is the benefit of controlling your Annotation Scaling in your Viewports.
