Now that we've edited some of our blocks in our drawing, what we can do is extract those attributes like we did previously. So let's have a look at extracting that data. So we go to our Insert Tab here, we go to our Linking and Extraction Icon here, Extract Data and we create a new data extraction. So click on Next and you'll see there's a BlockData.exe in there already. I'm going to overwrite that and select it and click on Save. Do I want to replace it? Yes, I do. I'm going to include my current drawing and click on Next. I extracts all of the attributes. I want to untick Display Object Types and Display Blocks Only but now I can untick here and Display Blocks with Attributes Only. So you'll see there that I've got the revision symbol, Small Shrub, Standard Lamp. I don't need the revision symbol in this case so I'll untick that one and I'll click on Next. Now remember I have to set my Category Filters. I don't need 3D Visualization. Don't need drawing, don't need General, don't need Geometry, don't need Miscellaneous and that's all I need, my Attributes. I've got Age, Manufacturer, Model and Name. Those are the attributes that we added previously. I'll click on Next now. You see there's the information there. The count I'm going to change. I'm going to move it over here to the end like so, right click Rename Column and that will be Quantity. Like so, press Enter and as you can see it all looks nice and neat and tidy. Now what I might do here as well just to standardize with capitals there, right click, Rename Column and I might call that Block Name like so. Press Enter. Now you can see there I can edit all the information. I can click on Next. I'm going to insert that data extraction table into the drawing and click on Next again. Now what I've got now is Room Area Square Meters. Now what I'm going to do is manually set up that table and I'm just going to call it Block Data like so. Make sure we got a Capital D there. It looks neater in the table. And the title cell start is going to be Title. The header cell start is going to be Header and the data cell start is going to be Data. So what I'm going to do there is use property names as additional column headers there. So if I've got any header there, that will be the titles of my attributes. So if I now click on Next and Finish, there's my table. I'll line it up with my existing table there using my Object Snap Tracking and as you can see there, if I just pan across slightly, I've now got a Block Data Table showing Block Name, Age, Name, Manufacturer, Model and Quantity. Now, that's just a basic table. What I've done is I've just done that from scratch. It's not neat, it's not refined but it just goes to show you how quickly you can extract block attributes in a drawing. Now, if you've got thousands of blocks in a drawing, look at how quickly that information can be gained from the drawing. Saves time; again, makes you more productive.
