OK. We're going to have a look now at Realtime Pan, and we're going to utilize it in conjunction with its partner, Realtime Zoom. Now you can use Realtime Pan from here, the Navigate Panel, like so; also it's down here on the Status Bar as well, along with Realtime Zoom is there, as well. Now, what we're going to do, we're going to utilize our Mouse Controls. I'll zoom and pan on our mouse using the wheel, and also the Pan and the Zoom Modes from the Panels in the Status Bar. First thing I'm going to do is I'm going to zoom in here on this area by rolling upwards on my wheel mouse like that, and I'm going to work on this little square here, and what I'm going to do, I'm going to utilize the Line Command and just place a couple of diagonal lines, so it's two left-clicks, a right-click and Enter. Same again, Line Command, Endpoint, Endpoint, right-click, Enter. So, I've placed those on the drawing and I'm happy with those. What I'm going to do now is I'm going to utilize Pan here from my Navigate Panel, and I'm now in Pan Mode. And I will not come out of Pan Mode until I right-click and exit like so. I'm going to hit Escape there, just to lose that menu for the moment. So, as I hold down the left-hand mouse button now I can pan around my drawing looking for detail that I might need to work on. Now you'll notice I'm using the left-hand mouse button there. Also as well, when I'm in Pan Mode I can, like I would if I was using the wheel, hold down the wheel of the mouse as a button and that will also allow me to execute Pan while I'm in Pan Mode, as you can see, like so. Now to come out of Pan Mode I would right-click, and I've also got the option there to go into Realtime Zoom, so if I went into Realtime Zoom now and held down the left-hand mouse button and moved up and down I would zoom in and out. If I right-click again I can go into 3D Orbit if I need to. You've also got these here: Zoom Window, Zoom Original, and Zoom Extents. If I do a Zoom Extents now off the Menu it goes straight to Zoom Extents and notice I'm now in the Zoom Command. It's dropped me straight into Realtime Zoom. I'm going to right-click now though and exit. So, that's my Realtime Pan Mode from the Navigate Panel. Now, panning in the drawing using the mouse is very quick and effective. It is also Realtime Pan. I just hold down the wheel of the mouse and I can pan to the left, I can pan to the right. Very quick, very easy, very effective. What I can also do, I can still use my Navigate Panel here and I'm just going to do a Zoom Extents now, and job done. What I've done there is I've worked with my Pan, my Zoom, and my Extents. What you'll notice is there's always a mix of Zoom Commands. As you get more well-versed with AutoCAD you will start using those extremely effectively to navigate your drawing very quickly and productively.
