AutoCAD 2009 provides you with a new user interface it also provides you with lots of new tools for working with the Model tabs and the Layout tabs. At the moment the Model tabs are displayed and you can see them here, the Model tab, the View 1 tab and the Layout2 tab and also as you can see you get previews of them as you move over them. I can right click over any of these tabs and on the Shortcut Menu, select Tide Layouts and Model tabs, they are then removed from the working area and as you can see it gives me a little bit more drawing area real estate there. There now controlled here by these buttons down here and as you can see I've got View 1 there, that'll take me into my View 1 tab and I've also got Model there, so I can just click on those Icons and toggle between the Model Space and the Paper space. However as shown previously if I right click on the Status Bar and actually switch off Layouts and Model so their not displayed at all, I now have no way of moving around between my Model space and my Layout space. I could if I wanted to go back to the really old method by typing in the values of Tile Mode 1 or 0. You can see these down here on the Command Line at the moment. The value of Tile Mode still toggles between 1 and 0, however we don't want to have to type in variable names, we want a completely Graphical User Interface. So now that Models and Layouts are hidden how do I switch between those views? Well I use these icons here, the Quick View Layout Icon and also the Quick View Drawings Icon. When I click on Quick View Layouts what comes up on the screen is a graphical interpretation of those tabs that were originally on the drawing. So there's my Model tab, when I click on it I'm now in the Model space. If I click on View 1 AutoCAD goes into View 1 as if I clicked on the View 1 tab. If I click on Layout2 that takes me into the equivalent of the Layout2 tab. I can pin this up if I need to, so if I pin it now it stays on the screen and I can flick between each view as I go. If I unpin it I can then Close it like so, a completely new Graphical User Interface for AutoCAD 2009. Quick View Drawings is the same, currently I only have the one drawing open which is my 0403 hiding drawing there. Drawing 1 is the default blank drawing that comes up when you open up AutoCAD, I can't go to it though, it is there but there is nothing in that drawing right now. However I can go back to 0403 here and notice I can click on the Views and there's my Quick View Layouts again. I can toggle in that drawing and go to any view I wish. Again, these can be pinned open, so I can now toggle between drawings, should I have multiple drawings open and I can also go to the views when I need to. So there's View 1, the equivalent of the View 1 Layout tab, I then unpin and I then Close. So as you can see the new AutoCAD 2009 user interface provides you with a quick, easy, Graphical User Interface to move between Layout views and Model views in your drawing.
