By no means is this model complete but through the use of the many 3D commands and the 2D XREF files I am close to completing the exterior. I will continue to make additions, changes and revisions. Let me complete a few more parts of the model related to the front of the elevation. As you can see from the 2D file I have a fill that needs to be incorporated into the front elevation, I went ahead and used the slice command and you can see that I sliced the front elevation and I sliced along the Y, Z plane first and then to obtain the sill I did two more slices along the X, Y plane and when I selected the points to slice, I went ahead and just picked on the 2 Day elevation and that gets me to this point here. Now what I need to do is continue with this portion of the drawing, to make it easier to see the objects or to make it easier to see what I am working on, I sometimes decide to go ahead and take some of these objects and place them onto layer 0 and when I do that I can go ahead and isolate that layer, making it easier to deal with just certain portions of the drawing. Right now what I need to do is to separate these two solids. So from the solids editing toolbar I can select separate and I pick the objects and I enter and enter one more time and I have the objects now separated. I'll go to layer previous, bring the objects back and what I would like to do now is highlight this one and place it on the stone sill layer if I can find it. 3D window sill, let's try that one, turn it on and place it there. Over here what I would like to do now is union the objects once again, so from solids editing, I select union, I select one, two and three solids and now I can enter. Once again looking at the 2D elevation I need to bring this portion of the wall out ever so slightly and I can check the distance, I can type DI and enter and go from this point to this one. The overall distance is four inches but I am concerned with the distance along the Y axis and that is 3 inches. So now coming back over here, once again focusing on just one object I have that highlighted and I can go ahead and try and work specifically with this edge, holding down the control key, I have selected that, I have the grip that I need, I can let go of the control key, select this object, pull it out and exaggerate that pull and type in 3 and enter and I have the edge that I needed. I should go in here now and once again hold down the control key, select this edge, release the control key, pick this point and bring it out four inches just so that I can have the overhang that is necessary. Let me go ahead and turn on the other 3D layers, using the keyboard, I'll use hyphen LA enter and I will type pull end for on and enter, type in 3D followed by the wildcard or the asterisk. I can enter and enter again. As you can see I started creating the stairs, I am now going to come around to this side, I'll draw a rectangle right here and I need dynamic UCS on which it is, I am going to just pause for a moment, waiting until that edge is highlighted and now I can go ahead and click here and click there. I'd like to extrude that object, so I am going to type EXT and I will type L for last and enter, selected objects to extrude I can now go ahead and enter and I am not really going to be concerned with the length, I am going to click right about there and I will go ahead and slice this, so from the dashboard I am going to select slice, I'll select the object and enter. Looking at the UCS I need to slice about the Z, X axis, so I am typing ZX and enter and the point I am going to specify is right here, using the 2D XREF drawing. Specifying a point on the desired side I can now go ahead and select the point right here instead of keeping both sides and now I am going to union the stair with this portion of the stair that I have just drawn and enter. This drawing will be included int eh tutorial it may appear different then earlier versions because I have made minor revisions along the way, I want my model to be perfect but I also understand that I need to complete it in time to meet the needs of the client. With each new 3D you create, you learn more shortcuts and you continue to develop your drawing style, give yourself time to practice the commands and be patient as you develop your drawings, the more you practice the more you learn.
