My name is Ivanhoe Tejada and I have been using AutoCAD since release 10. At the time it was still a DOS based program. I've used AutoCAD to draw all types of residential, commercial and institutional projects. At one point I also used AutoCAD release 12 in a graphic design firm to create architectural graphics and corporate logos. I never thought I would enjoy or understand AutoCAD to the point where I would be able to share all of this information with you. I do not claim to know everything about the program but I do know enough to rectify any problems or implement changes with every version that is released. I look forward to every new release and how we as architects can use it effectively and efficiently. After earning my degree in architecture I was prepared to continue my internship at an architectural firm to become a licensed architect. My career path took a turn as I began training co-workers to use AutoCAD. After taking advantage of a couple employment opportunities I eventually obtained the title of senior CAD manager. Although I was content with my new found career track, my role in life shifted from the profession of architect to the profession of architectural education when I was given the opportunity to teach an architectural CAD course at a community college. I enjoyed the experience very much, that was ten years ago and I have not looked back. I am currently a full time instructor and I teach introductory, intermediate and advanced CAD courses. I also benefit from teaching an art history course which has led me to fully understand that architecture is art, regardless of the tools or software used to produce drawings. I find my career challenging and rewarding, I earned my Master Degree in Education and I have combined both degrees to enrich the architectural curriculum as positive changes continue to affect the architectural community. I am a consultant on architectural projects when time permits and I consider myself fortunate to be able to create this tutorial using and teaching AutoCAD is a challenging and rewarding experience.
