On the elevation drawings it becomes necessary to call out materials with leaders as you can see from the example being shown. I will now go to the A4 sheet of this tutorial and demonstrate how this is done. First I am going to select the view port and then I am going to right click on the view port and go to properties. I want verify the scale of the view port and it is one eighth of an inch equals a foot. I will now go to design center and going to the A1 drawing, selecting dim styles I am going to click on VTC 096 and I am going to right click and add this dim style to the A4 drawing. To verify I will now go to format, dimension style and I can see that it is listed here. By the way I can take an existing style and if it is not being used I can right click and select delete. I am going to close and I think I will go to layers and borrow the A dim layer. I am going to click, drag and drop and there's the A dim layer, I'll take that and I'll close design center. Now I am going to double click inside of this view port and I am going to go down to the status bar and click on the icon that reads maximize view port. I am still in layout 1 but I have maximized the view port and it makes it seem as if I am back in model space. I am now going to zoom in here, I am going to right click any icon and open the dimension toolbar once again. I am going to select VTC 096 as my current dim style and now I'd like to place a leader, this is the quick leader icon, I am going to click on that, specify first leader point and I am going to turn off O-snap and I am simply going to click right here. I am going to take that line and extend it out here; I am going to now click. I do not wish to add any more points so I am going to enter specifying the text width I am going to leave it at zero and I am going to enter and for the first line of annotation text I'll simply put all caps, note one and then I will enter and there is no other line of text, so I am going to enter again and that places note one at this location. I am going to zoom in a bit closer and I think I am going to take this note and just move it over a little bit turning ortho on. As you can see the meter line updates, I am going to tap the escape key, what I am going to do now is simply copy note one along with the leader line. I am going to enter, click at this location, bring it down and click again and maybe one more time. Now I can tap the escape key and what I have basically done is gone ahead and placed in two additional notes and now I will simply double click here, that opens up the text formatting window and let's just say for example I change that from note one to note two, I can click ok, double click this note, change that from note 2 to note 3. Of course if I go back to the other drawing you can see that it is identifying the materials but for the sake of time I am simply placing information to show you the concept of the leader line. I have hit the control tab key, takes me back to this drawing and as you can see it took me out of that maximized view port window. Let me show you how to do that, I am going to double click inside of it again, maximizing the view port, panning around, zooming in and I am going to click minimize view port and that's all done.
