We will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on May 20th, 2013 at 02:00 GMT.
We already discussed what the parts of a model are as far as the geometry, the vertices, the edges, the faces also known as polygons, but let's talk about how we can actually work with those in several different ways and ways we can select those objects. So I'm going to create a box, just the easiest thing to create to use as an example. And I'm going to right-click on this object and when I right-click I'm going to get a menu that says Convert To. What this allows me to do is to go from the main object. Alright. To some form of editing. So I can convert this to NURBS, Poly, Mesh and so on. I'm going to go ahead and choose Editable Poly and when I do that you'll see in our Modifier List, the name of what we just applied here as far as how we want to edit this. So I'll go ahead and hit Alt W on this viewport to zoom in. So I can either choose what I want by going to the Selection Mask here for example, I can choose vertices and when I do this I'm grabbing a vertices. I can click here to choose that I want to work with edges and don't forget I'm in the actual object itself. So not just the box but working on a subatomic level inside the object. So I can also uncollapse this right here as well to get to this same area and you'll find this in many of the modifiers. So let's say for example that I go to the Modifier List and I'll just twirl this closed. Let's say I add in this this list here the same thing. Edit Mesh. Right. So I have editable poly, I have edit mesh, you'll see that I can also choose how I want to work here as well. So I'll choose Face and now I'm grabbing the polygons. So this is just another way that you guys can use when you want to get into the heart of your object. So you can go ahead and modify it. So now that I, I am in Faces Mode I can right-click again for example and let's say I choose Bevel. So I'll go ahead and just grab one of these guys here and I can bevel it in, you know? So I can grab this one here and bevel and because I'm on the polygon level that's what I'm working with. And that is just another look at not only reiterating what sub-objects are but how you can grab them in different ways.
