Scene Management / Scene Explorer
Subtitles of the Movie
Let's start talking about the Scene Explorer in this movie. The Scene Explorer is what I call a one-stop shop for everything you want to do in Max. So, if you go to Tools, New Scene Explorer, here you can see I can pretty much Hide my objects, Freeze my objects, do a See-Through on my objects and so on. So, let's take a quick look at this, and it pretty much looks like the Select by Name dialog box, but with a lot of options. So, for example, if I wanted to hide the Carpet, I can just go here and hide it, or I can Freeze it; similarly if I wanted to, let's say, go to the Vase over here, and if I wanted to Freeze it, I can Freeze it from here; you can see it's frozen. Or, I can do a See-Through on it, like an X-ray mode, so I can see through the Vase right now, right there, and so on. I can also add some more tabs over here, so if I right-click, and if I go to Column Chooser, let's say, if I wanted to add the Display as Box, I can quickly go over here and add the Display as Box, and now I can display, let's say, the Vase skin as Box, or some of the Cups right here as Boxes, and you can see how they're displaying as boxes. The cool thing about Scene Explorer is, you can make as many Scene Explorers as you want, and save them with different configurations, so if you go to Tools, I make another one, a New Scene Explorer, I can make another Scene Explorer with different configurations, and I can also manage my Scene Explorer from here, and also Rename it and set whichever one I want as the Default. So, it's really a nice little way of organizing your workflow again. So, if I go back to my Scene Explorer over here I can also get rid of some of the tabs if I don't want them, so if I don't want the See-Through tab right now I can just click on that and just drag and drop it over here. So, start playing with this. It's a really, really useful window, I would say.
