Let's start talking about ProBooleans in this movie. I have the file ProBooleans dot Max open from the Chapter 9 folder. Just two boxes and two spheres. Let's go under Compound Objects over here and there's your ProBoolean. Now in earlier versions of Max there used to be only Boolean but then later they added ProBoolean which is really, really cool. So let's select the Sphere over here right now and go to ProBoolean. The Sphere is selected and I'm on Subtraction right now. So let's go to Start Picking and pick the Box. I'm going to Control Z every time I try to pick something. How about Subtraction with a Cookie. You can see there's a hole. Let's try that one more time, right there it's solid, and with a Cookie there was a hole. Let's Undo. How about Merge? Then you have Intersection, and then Union. Let's try this from the Box point of view right now. Let's go to Compound Objects, let's go to ProBoolean, Union. Start Picking. Nicely unite. Intersection, there we go. Subtraction over here. Right there it gives me a nice little area. How about Subtraction with the Cookie? It gives me a hole. And then finally Merge and let's try Merge without a Cookie this time. There we go. Right there. Let's turn off the Cookie Mode, and there you go. So ProBooleans is a really, really cool way to play around with polygons, and it can be really useful when you're polygonal modeling because when you're trying to combine two objects and start modeling further this can really save you a lot of time.
