Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie let's take a brief overview of what's possible with Bones and Biped. I have a simple character over here, which is rigged with bones. These are all my bones, and these are all my Control Objects over here, so this would be called a Control Rig. For example I have my Slide Control, which allows me to slide the entire rig anywhere I want. So for example if I animated my character over here this way, let's say if he's walking over here, and my director came and told me he was supposed to animate over there, I could simply move him over there. I have some other controls over here for like Foot Controls for both the Feet, individual controls for let's say the Left Foot over here, also for the Knee, some BALL ROLL over here on the foot and also a TOE ROLL. Some controls over here for the Fingers, let's say a CURL attribute, and you can see how they're nicely going in a pose right there. Also some individual Finger Curls, so INDEX, MID, RING, PINKY, THUMB, and SPREAD. And right now what we're seeing over here is a control rig just with bones but you can pretty much use anything in Max to act as bones. Or one of the ways I like to do it is, I like to take my Low Resolution character. I like to cut it up in pieces and I take those objects and convert them to bones, so when you animate your character, or your bones actually look like your character, so it's really fun to animate that way. Also I have this little Spine Control, curls the spine. I've got a little individual Neck Control, and then I have this one, the Eye Control for basically for both eyes, or a single eye right here. Also a little control for the main control to get the character up and down. My character is deleted right now, but the SMIRK Left and Right is basically face triggers I call them, and there's going to be a bunch more. Well, I can move the SMIRK right over here or in this case go to the left the character will Smirk, so basically it's facial animation. So let's reset this scene right now. And Biped on the other hand, there's a whole bunch of Tools. So if I go to the Biped and if I go to the Motion Panel the Mixer Mode is really cool. It's a Motion Mixer, it allows you to do some really cool non-linear animation with the Biped, so Mixing, so if you have a Biped walking and then suddenly starts running you can blend those two animations and make them into one. And the Figure Mode over here, we talked about that. Footstep Mode is a decent mode to get started with, if you wanted to make the Biped walk and then throw some animation on top of there you can do that. Then you also have; that's your Motion Flow Mode, which is really cool again for mixing animation, but also you can do some good crowd similuations with this. And that's just your Mixer Mode right there. Let's go back over here. If I turn off my Figure Mode you can see you can also Freeform under Key Info right over here there are a bunch of options, you can Freeform Animate with Biped. Layers is really cool so it allows you to animate everything in layers, which is also outside Biped right now so that you can animate just the arms in one layer, just the head in one layer, just the legs in one layer and so on. You can throw Motion Capture Files on your Biped. So there's a whole world out here and maybe in the future, keep checking the VTC website, maybe there could be some special classes for these, so keep checking. So have fun with the Bones and the Biped.
