Intro to Keynote / Add a Slide

Subtitles of the Movie

Alright. Now that we've started our presentations here, we'll work with the vellum theme presentation that I opened up in the previous module and I bet you know what comes next and that is I add some slides. What's more, I bet you don't even need me to tell you how to begin adding slides. If you're looking up in that toolbar and you're seeing that new button, well, that's how you do it. You could also use the slide menu if you want to, but either way you do it, it's not that complicated and the reason why it's not that complicated is because it's good software. Good software shouldn't need pages after pages of, no pun intended, of instructions in order to do the most basic types of things like add a new slide. Now, the only confusing part about this or what can be confusing is why did I get that slide? Well, it all depends on the themes that are chosen and it's also a combination of the master slides for that particular theme. So the vellum has a title and bullet slide right underneath it after the title and subtitle, so that's the first thing that's going to be created is the title and subtitle and, of course, I'll double click to edit, but we'll deal with that in a different module here. Next slide that is added then is the next one in this master list, title and bullets. Well, what if you don't want that one? What if I add another one? It's going to stay right there with title and bullets. But again, what if I don't want that one? Well, I use the masters menu item or the masters button on the toolbar and I change it to bullets, to blank with a caption or a photo three-up. Now what do you think is going to happen if I start to add another slide? Well, let's see what happens. If I have this selected, photo three-up and I click on new, yup. Photo three-up is going to be the selected slide because that is the one that is configured in my master. So if I set my master to that, click on new, whatever that is, whatever that checkmark is next to is what's going to be added. So photo three-up and there we go. I want to rearrange, if I change my mind, what do you do? You guessed it. I drag and I drop. Just like that. Now, if you don't see that, you can go to the view button up here in the toolbar and you may see outline. You may see slide only. Now, this isn't the default view, so you'd have to be doing some work, but just in case you see only that and you're thinking well, how do I rearrange my slideshow? Well, that's how you do it. Remember this view menu here, the view button which gives you that drop-down menu and again, this navigator is going to be the default, which will let you easily rearrange the order of your presentation. Now, that's really all there is to it. I wish I could say it was a lot more complicated than that, but again, it's good software so you don't really have to worry about too much more than selecting a master or having one selected already and then adding a new one and then making your change just like that.
