In the previous module, we dealt with mostly formatting the data that's in a cell. We dealt with numbers and whether you wanted the numbers formatted with a Euro in currency or a dollar sign in currency or how many decimal places to make those numbers. Now in this module we'll show you a little bit more about how to deal with the visual content of the cell and some of the options you have. Well, a lot of the options you have visually have to do with the formatting toolbar up here. So if you have a cell selected and you want to change for example the color of the text to something maybe red or orange or something like that, you can make your selection just like that. Also, the alignment is interesting. If you have data in a cell, it will be auto-aligned based on the content type, but of course you have the ability to change this. Your auto-alignment will depend on whether it is text, as you can see, or whether it is a number. Also, header fields like these can be formatted automatically differently than the rest of the cells that are in your table. So if you want to change, select the cell, go up here and if you want to move the text to the center or the right, you have that ability as well. Also, you have these little three items; align text to the bottom of the cell, the middle and to the top, which in this case is a very subtle in how that text, but in bigger cells, it can make a difference. So what else do we have when you're formatting cells? You can also go to the inspector and you should have a table inspector. So in the previous module we identified the cells inspector. Right next to it is a table inspector and you can determine things like the cell borders and some of these things will show in certain styles and not in others. Also, some of these borders that you might thing are there might not be is you just have the table deselected and you're dealing with just the sheet itself. So background, color fill, gradient fill. So if we choose color of course we can choose from lots of different colors and set our opacity here and I'm going to select that as the color fill. Other things, gradient fills, image fills, tinted image fills, all those are going to look pretty similar. The gradient fill is a pretty nice effect and it's a pretty subtle effect for drawing attention to certain areas of the spreadsheet, which can sometimes be even more effective than making a picture or a chart. It sometimes is more effective than that, although I don't really recommend you have a lot of these throughout your spreadsheet because then it becomes visually very jumbled. So lots of things you can set as far as visual appeal of the table or of an individual cell with your options here and the table inspector and or the format bar.
