If you want to follow someone or get news brought to your web browser automatically you can subscribe to something called an RSS Feed. You'll typically see a little button like this on the website. Now, that can be a different color but you will see RSS or the word Subscribe. Now, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. I know, you were probably expecting something mind blowing. When I first heard it, I was like, oh man. Really? Nothing technical and scary sounding? But when you go to a website, you can subscribe to their feed. Now, if you want to experiment with this, what you can do is just enter your favorite company and add RSS at the end and hopefully something will come up. I did this in my web browser for Apple RSS so I can see what feeds the people at Apple have written and I can subscribe to it. So here is one called Apple Hot News. So when you click on it, what you can do is you can add it to your Bookmark Bar and you can click Subscribe. Now, I've already done that and you'll see this little icon right here with this little wave kind of icon, a little echo kind of thing. If I click on it, I can see all the latest news from Apple. So I can see that Apple released MobileMe iDisk app which is cool and I can see all kinds of stuff that happens at the company. And I can choose what story I want to read. So let's go ahead and see, let's check out Taking Care of Business on the App Store and here you go. Now I can read about the story. And this will update and I don't have to do anything else because I've already subscribed to that feed. So it might take a little getting used to and every website does not offer it but celebrities typically have these kinds of things and news agencies typically have these things so definitely subscribe to a couple of feeds and then you can simply find out what's going on at the click of your mouse right here in your Menu Bar or you can find a dedicated RSS Reader by simply doing a search. So just type in RSS Reader and see what you can come up with.
