iTunes / Rate Songs

Subtitles of the Movie

iTunes provides you with a ton of ways that you can rate your music so that you can go to this My Top Rated Playlist and have your favorite songs play at any time. And of course this will change based on the ratings that you give your songs. It's considered a Smart Playlist, which means it automatically updates on its own. Now as you can see here I have a couple of songs that have 5 stars, so these songs will play in this Playlist. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go over to Alicia Keys album over here because as you can see "Heartburn" has 5 stars and it's in this list currently. So I'm going to show you how to make things go away and put them in this list. Alright. I'm going to head over to Alicia Keys and I'm going to find the song "Heartburn", as you see here. And if you look over here we have a Rating Column. Now just in case you don't see this all you have to do is right-click anywhere up here to see the list of things that you can have up here, and if Rating is not selected just make sure you click on it and then it will appear in this list. Likewise, you can also get rid of things. Let's say for example you don't want to see the Genre. Right-click, and simply click on it and it goes away. OK. So now that I've done that, I'm going to click like so, and as I click I remove those stars. I can also drag my mouse across like so. There are a ton of ways to rate your songs in iTunes, but that's one of the easiest ways. You can also right-click on the song and here we go again, Rating. So, Apple just wants you to rate those songs no matter what. So I'm also going to go to Get Info and I'm going to show you that we also have a lot more information that we'll talk about as well, so you have Info for your songs, you have Video, you have Sorting, you have your Options, which also, look at that Rating. Just everywhere. So, I'm going to make sure I have no stars here, OK, so I'm going to get rid of the stars and then I'll go back to that Smart Playlist and let's see if that song "Heartburn" is still at the top of the list. So I'm going to go to My Top Rated and it is gone, currently, "You Make Me Feel Brand New" by Baby Face is up there, but let's go ahead and add somebody else. I'm going to choose, let's see here, I think I will go to Barry White, and I'll go to "Never Gonna Give You Up" and I'm going to go ahead and drag and add 5 stars and "The Secret Garden", I'll do the same thing. Let's go back to that Smart Playlist, My Top Rated, and Barry White should be in this list, and there he is. So, as you can see, if you have a party that you're planning or you just want to play some jazz or something like that, just go ahead through your list and put your favorite songs in here and then when you start your party the good times will start rolling. So that is how you can use the Ratings to tell iTunes what your favorite songs are and you can just sit back and enjoy them and update them whenever you feel like it.
