You may have heard the term RSS feed and may not have understood exactly what that technology meant. Whenever you create a podcast or a blog, visitors have the ability to subscribe to that using something known as really simply syndication or RSS feed. And you'll see this little subscribe button in this template for a podcast. So when people are online and they visit your podcast and if they really enjoy it, they can click this button. So what happens is when you update your podcast, it will automatically show them that there's an update in their RSS reader. In this case I have something called Safari, which is a web browser, but it also has an RSS aggregator in it and as you see up here, you have the letters RSS, you are dealing with a page that has RSS built into it and that is embedded or created with something known as xml, similar to HTML. It's just a language that RSS uses to create the ability to subscribe and update whatever is on your podcast. You also notice that you can create a list of RSS feeds and visit them at any time. The number here tells us how many news stories there are and let's go to Apple Hot News for example and I can read a summary as to what is new on the feed and I can read more. So that's one of the beautiful things about RSS. You're going to get a little summary and you can quickly see whether or not you're interested in that story or that feed and if you are, simply click more. Now, this number will change based on whenever there's a new update provided by whoever writes these websites. And once again, all you have to do is look for that little subscribe button and then you'll be able to have RSS news fed to your web browser so you can always stay abreast as to what's new with your favorite website and blogs.
