iTunes / Custom Playlists
Subtitles of the Movie
I have a wide variety of both music, videos and audio books in my library and as you see here, I have created my own custom playlist so that when I'm in my iPhone, all of the audio books will wind up in one place because what I've done is created my own category pretty much. They all start with the word audio book or audio books and then I put the colon here and the author. So this is a really fast way for me to get around my collection. For example, I have audio books here by Edgar Allen Poe, Walter Mosley and these books are all categorized in a nice, neat row and also alphabetically. So they appear at the top of the list. Now, let's say that you're a fan of action music and you want to make several different action music playlists. Let's go ahead and do that now. I will click the plus sign here and I will type action music. I'll put a colon and let's say you want to put sci-fi. So then you can go through your collection and find all the music that belongs in that category and simply drag it over into this play list and what I'll do just to demonstrate this is I'll go to my, let's see, I'll go to Alicia Keyes here and I'll just drag over Karma right into action music sci-fi. Now when I click on it, that song is in this playlist. So I could have action music fantasy, action music karate or martial arts, and they'll all wind up in one snug area like this. And this is pretty much how I like to arrange my playlists. Now, let me also scroll through here and show you something else I like to do. I like to create a favorite list of music as well. So let me go ahead and find it. Let's see. Where are you? Here's an artist I like a lot. His name is Music and I have his albums here, but I also like to create a category called favorites. So I have music favorites and these are my favorite songs from him. So I will make one for like Michael Jackson or Mint Condition or whatever and just make a favorites category in addition to leaving their regular playlist alone. And this is really handy when you're on the road and if you're driving. So I always pass my wife my iPhone and she'll say what do you want to listen to and I say, uh, put on the music favorites. So that way we don't have to go around from each playlist and then find my favorite songs. They're all right here, they play all in a row and then I might say, uh, let's go ahead to the Garth Brooks favorites. So creating a custom playlist is a great way to really categorize your entire library into what suits your particular needs.
