And now a lesson in red eye, that eerie-looking effect you get when you take a flash and point it right down someone's eyeball. Now, thanks to our friends at Wikipedia, we can find out exactly what a red eye is. And I use Wikipedia all the time. As you can see, it's pretty much when the light is reflected back out through the iris and hits the retina. And hits all that blood. So blood and flash equals red. Thank you. Let's go back to iPhoto. As you can see, my scientific explanations are always pretty bad, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to go to Google now and I'm going to go to the images section with the search red eye and I'm going to simply grab an image and copy it to my desktop. So I'm going to, let's see, I'll save it to my iPhoto library as a matter of face and then it will be in my library and I'll wait for it to show up and then what we'll do is we'll take this image, I'll double click on it, and we'll talk about the red eye effect and how to use the editing tools to fix this condition. So what we're going to do at this point is zoom in with the slider and we're going to click the red eye tool and we're simply going to click on the eye and there it goes. The red eye effect is handled for you automatically. Likewise, you could choose a manual size and then use the slider to adjust; well, that's going to go way too far, and you can pretty much determine exactly how large the brush is going to be for the red eye effect. So a big brush is going to be good when you really want to cover the entire eyeball. And this size here is really good when you want to take care of like a giant. But we don't have a giant. But once again, red eye is that phenomenon that you get when a Flash is going to hit the blood vessels in the retina. Thank you for my scientific explanation once again. A very quick way to handle that situation, so if you do find that you have a lot of red eye in your digital photography, iPhoto is there to help you out with the red eye tool.
