iPhoto / Events pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

Let's take a more in-depth look at how to work with the events in iPhoto. First of all, I'm going to talk about something called skimming. You'll notice that each one of these events has a poster frame that represents an image in this event. You can always change this very easily by skimming or moving your mouse left and right across the event like so until you find something that you like to have as your poster. So I'll go ahead and choose Captain Crunch, hit my space bar one time and move my mouse around. Now, this is the new event poster frame. Likewise, I can go and choose something else and once again hit the space bar and that is the representation right there. I can rename it by clicking one time on the name that's there and simply typing something else. As long as I have an event selected, by skimming my mouse over it I can find out the dates and how many images are in this event. Let's double click on an event if you have one in your collection and talk about how to split and merge them into new events. I'm going to simply click and drag my mouse to grab this first two rows here and then I'm going to go down to the bottom left of this menu and click the split button. The new event is created and I can double click on the name and change it to something else. Likewise, I can click and create another event or I can grab them all again like so in just this row and when I do that, I can split and make yet another event. How cool is that? So I can simply click as many images as I like and I can make different events. Now what I'm going to do is on my keyboard, I'm going to press the command key and A to select everything. Then I'm going to click the button that was the split button, which has now transformed itself into the merge button and merge these into a new event. So it's very easy to create events by merging them, splitting them and renaming them. Double click to rename it or you can simply go back to the event list itself and change the name right here. So events are a really nice way to organize your images. You have full control over the poster frame. You have full control over how many events you want to make from one main event and you can always merge different events and images from different events into one brand-new event and that was a lot of events in one sentence I think.
