iPhoto / Albums

Subtitles of the Movie

If you have a lot of images in your iPhoto library, chances are good you're going to want to sort them into an album. Albums are located right here in our source list and I can twirl it up or down and I can also create my own albums at any time. Let me share with you a couple of ways to do this. So I'm going to go where the plus sign is and click one time. The sheet comes down and I can choose to create a new album, a smart album, a web gallery and other options. And, by the way, when you click on something different, the interface changes a far as the sheet. So if I choose to create an album, it's going to say untitled album. I will name this artwork for now and then I also have this option here; to use anything that I have selected already in this new album. Since I didn't select any artwork, it's going to create a blank album for me. So I'll go ahead and hit create and here is my new album; artwork. And as you can see, there are no images in there, but I can always put artwork in there from any event or photo. So I can go ahead to the event, for example, and I'll grab this guy here and then drag it to my artwork album and when I click on it, the images that were in that event are now in this album as well. Let me tell you another way to make an album. So I'm going to resize my interface a little bit and actually move it over and let me just go ahead and click this button here and show you that I have on my desktop something called new stuff. This has a couple of images inside of it; a robot, Godzilla and a picture of a warrior from a video game I play. And what I can do is I can simply drag this new stuff into the albums list and then it will ask me to replace any images that it already has in the main library. So what I'm going to do is tell it to import and apply to all duplicates. And now I have that new album, new stuff, in my iPhoto collection. So as you can see, it's very easy to create an album either by clicking the sign here or by simply dragging a photo that you already have on your hard drive right into the album source list.
