iPhoto / Import from other Sources

Subtitles of the Movie

All of the images that you bring into iPhoto won't necessarily come from a digital camera. Instead you might find them from a CD that contains artwork or from the Internet or from folders that are already on your hard drive. So as you can see, I'm on Google and let me just show you where I clicked here. I'm on the images section and what I'm going to do is I'm going to click on one of these images here to show you how to save to your desktop. So I'm going to click see full-size image and then once it loads, I'm going to right click on it and of course, if you have a one-button mouse, you're going to control click it and I'm going to save this image to my iPhoto library. Once I do that, the image goes into my library and wait for it to load and there it is; the untitled event. This is the image we got from Google by simply right clicking and sending it right to iPhoto. So that's one way to bring images into iPhoto. Let me go ahead and show you how to do this by using the desktop. So let me hide Google and let me hide everything else that I have open that helps me to record these tutorials and what I'm going to do now is I'm going to move iPhoto over until we can see my desktop and what you could do is you could drag a folder, as you see here I have videos and I have the tutorials, and I can drag it right into the source list over here. So I'll move this down and I'll grab this folder here and I'll drag it right here where it says albums and there it is. Here is the new folder with the same exact name, tutorial, with the images. Likewise, I can do the same thing for the videos. So let me scroll up, grab the folder and drag it right to albums and here are the two QuickTime movies that are now embedded in iPhoto. So it's a really, really convenient way to not only bring things from your camera, but also bring sources from other areas such as the Internet or from files already on your desktop or from a CD or a DVD. There are tons of ways to bring images and videos into iPhoto where you can use it as an asset management software instead of just a photo software, a library so you can have all your portfolio artwork and your invitation and fliers and everything you create all living inside of one space.
