Welcome to VTC's tutorial on Shake 4. My name is Kalika Kharkar. In this course, we will cover the new features in Shake 4, the system requirements and an introduction to nodes. In the orientation section, we will learn how to open Shake for the first time. The Viewer, Tool Tabs, and Node View, the parameters, the Color Picker, Pixel Analyzer, and Time Bar, the Curve Editor, Audio Panel, and Time View, and the Command Line, Help, Title Bar, and Top Menus. Using the interface: here we will learn how to view images, how to use the Nodework Space, working with parameters and globals, how to view channels and compare buffers, and navigation and keyboard shortcuts. In the section on File In and File Browser, we'll learn how to use the File In Node, using the browser, importing different file formats, how to replace footage, and basic retiming with the File In. In the Basic Compositing section we will have an introduction to compositing, exporting from Final Cut to Shake, a demo of how to create a basic Node Tree, launching a Flip Book, as well as file out to disk. Color Nodes: here we will learn how to use the Color Correct Node, the other color nodes, all about concatenation, color spaces and bit depth. In the Transform and Layer Node section we will have an introduction to Transform Nodes, a Transform Node rundown, an introduction to Layer Nodes, a Layer Node rundown, and an overview of Image Nodes. In the Roto-shape section we'll learn all about Alpha Channels. There will be an introduction to matting and masking, Garbage Mask and Domain of Definition, how to create and modify Roto-shapes, as well as how to animate Roto-shapes. Quick-paint: here we will have an overview of Quick-paint uses and a demonstration, a look at the Quick-paint tools, we'll learn to use the right On technique, as well as how to paint in perspective. Timing and Key Framing: here we'll learn what is Key Framing, how to create Key Frames using both auto and manual techniques, how to work with the Curve Editor, Motion-blur, Fades and Dissolves, the Time View Window, and retiming footage. In the section on Color-keying with Key Light we'll have an introduction to color keying, we'll look at the basics of Key Light, learn a Key Light work flow, as well as learn the other keyers in the Key Tab. In Color-keying with Primatte we'll learn the basics of the Primatte Keyer, a work flow for working with Primatte, as well as various techniques of combining Keyers. In the Tracking and Stabilizing section we'll learn the uses of Tracking Nodes, the parameters that are common to all Tracking Nodes, One-point Tracking, Stabilizing, Tracking tips and tricks, Corner-pinning, and the use of the Smooth-cam Node. In the Warps and Filters section we will have an overview of all of the Warp Nodes as well as learn how to use all of the Filters in the Filters Tab. In the section on Shake and 3D programs we'll learn how to export from 3D programs, such as Maya, how to composite render passes, and how to work with pre-multiplied images. In the section on Film Compositing we'll learn how to work with Film Color Space, 3-2 Pulldown, Pixel Aspect Ratios, Resolution Management, and working with proxies. Working with video and audio: here will learn about field dominance, tips and tricks when it comes to working with interlaced video, working with audio, and output methods. In the section on exporting a finished composite, we'll learn how to use the File Out Node for video, how to use the File Out Node for film, and how to use multiple File Out Nodes. The Command Line in OS X, and Expressions: here we'll learn what the Command Line is, some simple commands to use, as well as Command Line rendering, and then we'll get into some basic Expressions. And finally, the Wrap-up section: here we will learn additional resources to learn about Shake, a summary of what we've learned, and an Author Movie. Let's get started.
