Projects / Clips and Sequences / Organizing Bins

Subtitles of the Movie

Now we've done a little bin management so far and I want to continue that here as we look at our project that's open which is VTC tutorial 1 and I'll just click on the little arrow here to expose the rest of the contents of this bin that I've created Hard Way and what I'll do is I'll hold down the Control key click and create a new bin and notice where this bin goes. It goes right in top or inline, it's the same hierarchy as the Hard Way, the existing bin. I can create these bins and other bins if I want to if I have that one selected. So because I wasn't really in any bin to speak of it just creates another one in this tree structure. But I can then drag this into an existing bin so I can organize it beforehand or even after the fact as you can see here. Let's do this, let's rename this and again I'll just give it a quick click, pause and another click and I'll call this finished material and press enter on the keyboard and now I just want to show you a couple of quick ways to select stuff and move it around so that you're comfortable with that skill. Again it's not really a something that is going to take a whole lot time but obviously you single click to select a single item, you can then command click to select multiple items like this, you can select multiple items by dragging a lasso or what's called a marquee around different objects. Now the advantage or disadvantage of that is that it's hard to select multiple things, but again I can do the command button, I can hold that down and make a click and then select noncontiguous items, so again the marquee selects contiguous items here and if I want to select something else that's in my list I can do a command click and select that one as well. You can also do a shift click, so select your top item, shift, click and then select your other item and then again you'll have a contiguous list or a contiguous selection. So let's again combine some of these skills here, click and now I'm going to drag these into this bin that I've just created, again it is empty right now, I can use the arrow to expand its contents which reveals nothing right now. But again that is going to change as soon as I click, drag, I want to make sure that, that pointer, that selection tool ends up on the bin that I desire for my destination, notice that it's going to add 3 items plus that file, that clip, the hard way MP4. So I'm going to select it, drag it right there and now if I click on this little arrow you can see the contents of the bin itself. Can I undo that? Can I undo that move? I absolutely can, Command Z and it does the undo. I can even redo it with Shift, Command Z as you can see here.
