The Fill Tools in Anime Studio basically compliment the Drawing Tools. They allow us to go into draw an objects and work with the styles or the fill color the line attributes and so on of an object. And so they're usually used after the fact when creating a drawing in Anime Studio. To get started we'll first use the Select Shape Tool. So let's go ahead and click that and the Select Shape Tool is used to select shapes on the canvas and look at their style properties and adjust them if we want to. So if we were to click on the star object you can see on my Style Palette that the fill, stroke and line width properties have been transferred over. From here we can for instance click on the Fill Color and choose a different color, let's say blue and then click OK. And you can see now that the new fill color has been transferred over to the star because we are still working within it's properties. And you can always tell if you have an object selected by the grid effect that's taking place right now with the star. You can see it's checkered or it looks like a grid. That means that the object is currently selected. Now the Create Shape Tool allows us to basically take what is on the Style Palette and transfer it over to an incomplete shape. In this case I have one right here, the circle with the hole in it. So if I were to take the Create Shape Tool I can highlight that entire object. And you can see when I do this especially with objects like this that the checkered pattern appears on the bigger object. While the one inside remains transparent and that means that if we fill this object the smaller circle is going to remain transparent. So this is a good way to create objects that have holes in them or have different objects within them. So once you have highlighted the object that you want to fill, simply hit your Spacebar on your keyboard and that will transfer the style properties that are on your Style Palette, in this case we had a blue fill and a black line stroke over to the new object. Now the Paint Bucket Tool is probably used the most out of all the tools you'll be using here. At least I use it the most. In this case you can paint objects using the colors and properties you have on your Style Palette. So in this case I could choose a new color on my Style Palette for the fill color. Let's choose yellow and click OK. I could then take the Paint Bucket Tool and once I do this you'll notice at the top that you have Fill, Stroke and Both. If you choose Fill you will only fill in the fill color, the lines will be left alone. The Stroke is opposite, you'll only be adjusting the line attributes of the object. And for Both you'll be doing of course both. So if I take the Paint Bucket Tool with Both selected and click on the star, it fills in that object using both properties I have in my Style Palette. Now this is interesting and useful if let's say for instance you have created a line. But you don't have an enclosed object yet you want this line to appear. You want it to have a stroke color. Well you could take your Paint Bucket Tool, select Stroke and click and fill in that line to create the stroke color. So that is what you would use your Paint Bucket Tool for.
