Subtitles of the Movie
Let me close out this section of the tutorial with an overview review of how to add titles to your projects. Once you've completed and saved a Title you'll notice that Premier Pro CS3 automatically adds it to the Open Project window. The Title becomes a clip in the Project using the original Title file as its source. Notice that I have a variety of titles that I've created here as well as Crawls and Rolls. To add a title to a project, remember, these are just clips now, so you'll do it the same way you would add any clip to the Timeline, usually just drag and drop it onto an open video track right here. Let's go to Video 2. You'll notice that I'm going to stack this title on top of an existing video underneath it, so that I have the composite of the video with the Title on there. I can adjust the length of the Title in the same way that I'd adjust the length of any clip; is click on the edge here in the Timeline and drag left to shorten, drag right to lengthen. Notice that I can put more than one title on a particular track. Let's go ahead and shorten this title and move it down here. And also edit these titles at any time, such as moving this Wow Title up higher so it doesn't obscure my car there. Just double-click on the Title there in the Project window and it appears here in the Titler, or Title Designer. Let's go ahead and move this up a little bit, like so, notice I have an effect as well as the text. That looks better. Notice that I can also, here in the Title Designer, turn on or turn off the video underneath it so I can really line that up accurately. Now, close the Title Designer and notice back here in the Program view, my Title is now aligned where I want it. Now you'll want to preview your titles. You can do that in the Program View, but notice that whenever you change a title this bar up here changes to red, so you'll need to re-render the sequence to see more accurately what the Title will look like. Let's go ahead and stretch my Work Area bar all the way to the end of my un-rendered section, and now let's go Sequence, Render Work Area. Premier Pro CS3 will then proceed to render everything under that Work Area bar. This may take a few moments. Now, in most cases, Premier Pro's Real-Time preview feature will be able to render most titles on the fly and play them back at the project's full frame rate, but at times you will need to render a sequence to get accurate playback like I did here. Let's go ahead now and play this back and have a look at it. Again, I have several different titles on there. I can also bring out a Roll or Crawl, as well as Stack my titles. Notice that I have two titles now stacked there, the Wow and the Look of Excellence. Again, I'll probably need to go back to the Title Designer and rearrange those two so they don't overlap each other. You'll treat the Rolls and the Crawls the same. I have a Roll here and I can drag that out. Notice that as soon as I drag it out my green bar goes red indicating that I may need to render that to play it back at full frame rate. Let's go ahead and see if this one; this is a little bit rough there, so probably that's a good case of rendering that one. The more complicated the Roll or the Crawl, the more likely you'll need to render it to see it back accurately. So, there you have a review of how you'll apply your titles and rolls and crawls after you create them in the Title Designer. That'll also wrap up this section of the tutorial on Titles. In this section of the tutorial you've learned how to create titles in Title Templates, how to add text and shapes to titles, as well as graphic logos. You've learned how to create rolling and crawling text, and how to add titles to your projects. Let me now move on to the next section of the tutorial: Effects, and demonstrate how to work with Fixed and Standard Effects, how to use the Effects Control panel, how to animate effects with keyframes, how to work with keyframes and interpolation, keying effects, clip transparency, and alpha, and much, much more.
