Okay, in the last lesson we looked at a very simple photograph to judge and ascertain the technical status and the subject matter and get everything coordinated, very easy questions to answer in that particular photograph. But let us look at another one that is not quite so easy to deal with, this has quite a bit more wrong with it, I guess, in simple terms, but then again it is very simple, it is very similar to the other photograph in that it is obvious that the subject is well defined. It jumps right out at you, there is no ambiguity about what this photograph is about. Technically the things that jump out at you immediately are that it is too dark, indeed it is, it has got a blue tone to it, which I knew was going to happen, and I took the pictures anyway because I knew that when I got it in Photoshop, I was going to be able to correct all those things. So there is Leah, she is obviously very dark but look at that expression, that is a great picture of her. Let us brighten this just a little bit, I will teach you about histograms later, this one need maybe a little bit of cropping. I mean there is a whole lot of technical work, to be honest with you, but let us look at the cropping issues; maybe we can fix that immediately. That is better, much better, makes it easier to look at, makes it easier to find the focus of the subject matter, so there you have it, I mean here is a photograph that needs quite a bit done to it, we are in no way finished with this, we've got to pick off some of the imperfections on the chin here, on this area here, and we can correct all that stuff, and we will do that, we will correct the skin tone, we will do all kinds of stuff to it later, this is a photograph we are going to deal with in this tutorial quite a bit. But from the standpoint of answering the question of what you have in front of you and what you are going to do with this photograph, and what is the subject and all of those questions answer what you are going to do to it from a technical standpoint. In any case, this is a picture with a little more wrong with it, with a little more to do to it, but only to bring out the one subject in this photograph, which is the face and the hair. Nothing else matters. This adds character maybe to the photograph, this is very good because you have got good depth of field, very good picture all the way around. Next we are going to look at a photograph that is a bit more complicated, has a bit more to answer about it and I think it will complete the lesson about how to ascertain your photographs to determine what you are going to do to them.
