Very quickly let us go over a couple of tools that are also very good for adjusting parts of an image and that would be the dodge and burn tools and of course the saturate tool. And if you have ever spent any time in a darkroom, you know what a dodge and burn means and the concepts are very similar in Photoshop. And what we do is go over here and we pick the dodge tool and this will brighten whatever you click on and drag across, and then the opposite will be the burn tool and anything it drags across of course will darken, which you can remove. Now the degree of the effect that is rendered on an image is dictated up here on these controls. You can do a pronounced effect, you can do a subtle effect, or somewhere in between. You can also dictate whether it concentrates on the darker tonal range of the image, the mid ranges or the highlights of the image. Most of the time we just start with mid tones. However, I do want to make a very real adjustment on this image, and what we are going to do is we are going to use is the saturation, or the sponge tool. I am going to desaturate this blue area. I think it is just a tinge too much, so we are going to set this at maybe 35% at first, and let us make it a little bit smaller, smaller yet and just drag that across to take the brilliance out of that. It is still there, it is just not as overpowering as it was, now I think that's perfect. Less is more in Photoshop, so if we do the burn tool, we do not want quite that much going on it so we are going to enlarge it across here, and maybe a slight adjustment to the intensity of that one little area of the cloud, this will not too bad at all. Of course if we want to bring something out, we come over here and that is too much, but you get the idea. We can adjust for tone anywhere up here in your image. Dodge and burn and saturate. Not bad.
