Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Tutorials

Basics / Organize

Subtitles of the Movie

Photoshop Elements 6, as I mentioned in the last lesson, takes you by the hand and leads you through the various steps in a clear, uncomplicated manor so even someone who has never processed a digital image before can move forward and get great results. Let's open the program and see how to get from point A to point B. Now, notice when you click on the icon on your Desktop you will see a panel that gives you four choices. One of those is Organize, then Edit, Create and Share. Now, Organize, as you can guess is the part that downloads the images from your camera or scanner, allows you to create folder and albums to group your photos, save keywords on your photos so that when you search for them later they will be easier to find. Now, keywords are simple word references that attach to the photo making it easier to find your shots later. Edit, again, as the name implies is where the heavy lifting is done on your images. This is where you will brighten, darken, adjust the color, crop your photos, etcetera. There's a ton of creative stuff you can do in this section. This is where a lot of the fun stuff is. Now, Create is where the photo books and the calendars and the greeting cards, etcetera are made and this is also a tremendous activity for kids. It's so easy and the results are truly amazing. Photoshop Elements really is an incredible program. Now, the Share section is where you do all your Internet adjustments. It'll prepare your photos to attach to emails, where you can build an online gallery, build very simple websites, all very easily by just following the instructions. Now, you can notice over here that you do have a choice of how to load the program. If you anticipate that you're going to be using Photoshop Elements 6 on a regular basis, which you really should get in the habit of doing you might want to just go directly to the Organize section or you might want to go directly to the Edit section. Most people choose one of these two when they initially open the program. I would recommend Organize because everything you do in the Edit section is predicated on how you organize your images. So all you have to do is click on this and then you can choose to either go with the Organizer or the Editor sections. Alright, so let's go to the next lesson. We're going to look at the Organize section first and show you how to, well, organize your photos on your computer.
