Introduction & Setting Up / The Role of Photoshop in Web Design

Subtitles of the Movie

A big question that we should start off with here is what role does Photoshop have in Web design? I mean, isn't Web design all about code and all about Dreamweaver and things like this? Well, as a matter of fact, Photoshop can play a large role in Web design, a very predominant role and as a matter of fact, we'll explore many different ways to work with Photoshop and Dreamweaver together, right to help layout the visual aspects of visual elements of your layout. Now I'm going to use the VTC Home Page just as a quick example, but getting the logo established, for example, in the top left corner or, here's something else, you see the rounded corners on the Header area, if you will, inside the VTC layout? Something like that is not possible with traditional background code, so those sorts of aspects, those sort of minor elements, you're going to need an application like Photoshop to pull that stuff off, right? But it goes further than that. Let's scroll down just a little bit. What about things like buttons? Try the Demo, or Sign Up Now. Again, those are graphical elements that have to come from somewhere, right? You'll see how to create buttons very similar to these a little bit later on. What about things like this background here behind this graphic, right? Or an entire ad, something like this, right, or a product ad. Well, all of these graphical objects have to come from somewhere and they have to come from Photoshop, right? That's really the idea. That's really how it all works. That being said, let's talk about how we can work with Dreamweaver and Photoshop together just a little bit.
