The next feature I want to discuss is going to take almost no time to explain but it will increase your efficiency in Photoshop. This feature is called Spring-Loaded Tools. Now back in the day when you wanted to switch tools you had to know the keyboard shortcut and then press that keyboard shortcut, get to the new tool and then press the other keyboard shortcut to return to the last used tool. For example, here is my Brush Tool, I'll hover over it with my mouse so the Tool Tip tells us the shortcut in parenthesis, as you see there, it says B. I'll hover over the eraser now, to access this tool I'll have to press E. So let me show you the old workflow. Here's my brush, and I'll paint and then I decide I want the eraser so I hit E, and then I erase. Then I want to go back to my brush so I have to press B, well even though that's not really a difficult workflow, it's more efficient now. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to revert this by going to File, Revert, and let me show you the new way these tools work so don't forget I have the brush selected and I'm going to paint. So I'm brushing I'm brushing and I'm going to hit E on my keyboard but this time instead of letting go of the keyboard shortcut, I'm going to keep my finger pressed down on E. So I switch to the eraser and I'm erasing and I'm going to let go of the key on my keyboard and the brush springs back so all you have to do is choose the tool that you want to use, hold its key down on your keyboard, perform the operation that you want to perform, then let go of that key, and your other tool will be active again. So once again, short but sweet but I think it will increase your efficiency because instead of pressing all these keys you only have to press the one you need, then let go of the mouse to return to the one you were using.
