Well, if you like a lot of creativity in Photoshop, you're going to like this lesson because we're going to take a look at the blend modes and the blend modes are located in the layers palette and we click down this drop-down list right here and we see quite a large choice of functions. That, this grouping right here has a tendency to darken the combinations. This grouping here lightens the blending and this is either increasing or decreasing the contrast in the combinations. Difference and exclusion are simple mathematical algorithms that I could not explain to you, but they do result in changes; hue, saturation, color and luminosity are pretty much self-explanatory. So why don't we just start at the top and go down. Oh, I should, by the way, tell you that the blend modes do not work in the background layer. They only work on the copy layers. Just so you know that. Let's start with darken and we can see the result here of combining the image of the motocross rider and the sunset. Multiply, color burn for a lot of intensity. And keep in mind, these are, these are the default changes. These are right out of the box without you adjusting the opacity or the fill rates or going up here to adjust any of the curves or the Color Balance or the black and white or hue and saturation. Any of that stuff can be added to with these results for further creative results. So just like I have said a million times, come on in here and experiment. The blend modes will give you a lot of creative results.
