Arbitrary rotation gives you the ability to enter a set value whenever you need to rotate something. So for example if a client says to me I want you to rotate this cereal box 12 degrees counter clockwise. Well if I just try to figure this out on my own I'll never be able to get it. So what I would do is, of course I would select the cereal box and hypothetically let me just go ahead and just show you in a quick example what you would do if you were trying to figure this out on your own. You would press command or control T and then you would try to rotate it. And you would try to hopefully get to 12 degrees, Of course you can keep your eye up here as well and match it precisely. But if he wants the entire canvas rotated it's a little easier just to go to the menu, let me deselect this. Go to image, rotate canvas, arbitrary and I can enter 12 degrees and I can say clockwise if I want to and now I have rotated everything clockwise and I can cut this box out and then it's exactly the way the client wants it. Now another thing that you might want to use arbitrary rotation for is to precisely match elements from other documents into a document like this. For example, I might want these words to line up exactly with the top of this box. So I am gonna grab my ruler tool which is located under the eye dropper and on this document here I am going to draw this guide and it's gonna measure for me exactly what this angle is. So I'm gonna let go of this ruler and I'm gonna go to image, rotate canvas, arbitrary, and it entered 8.31 degrees and I'm gonna copy this value. So I'll press command or control C on my keyboard. Now I'm gonna go over this document and I'm going to go to image, rotate canvas, arbitrary, and I have to enter this value so I'll command or control V to paste and I have to look at this document here and realize that I want this to rotate not clockwise but counter clockwise. So I'm gonna say OK and now the free T-rex inside dot uh text has rotated. I can drag it right on over and now boom it fits exactly according to the parameters. The same can be applied for this kid here, the karate kid, I might want this kid to sit right here on this ad and face the box so I'm gonna once again go over here, grab my ruler and I'm gonna draw this guide and I'm gonna go to image rotate canvas, arbitrary, I'm gonna enter this value I'm gonna copy it. Go over here, image, rotate canvas, arbitrary, paste and once again I have to look and see which way I want her to rotate and it looks like I want her to go this way so, which is counter clockwise and now I can click and drag her right on over. And now she is at, at the exact angle that I need for this ad. Of course like I said before you can easily just drag her right on in here and once you're here press command or control T to free transform but its a little easier sometimes if you use the ruler to get it exactly the way you want it. Otherwise you can rotate it and just keep your eye up here to see the angle.
