Sometimes you might want to use the paint bucket tool to immediately add colors to areas of a similar color that you click on. This is the paint bucket tool, and it's found under the gradient tool here. And the way it actually works is basically one stop shopping. It works like the magic wand tool, and then filling with color. And notice the options for the paint bucket tool are very similar to the magic wand tool. So the tolerance setting here allows you to control how many range of similar colored pixels are affected when you click on a particular pixel with the paint bucket tool. So the lower the value for tolerance, a smaller range of similar colored pixels will be affected, and the higher the value a larger of similar color pixels will be affected or filled with the paint bucket tool. And we also have options for anti-alias and contiguous as well. And if you are using layers, you can have the paint bucket tool consider all the layers when you are clicking on a particular pixel in your document. Well with my paint bucket tool selected, one of the first features I want to talk about is the ability to quickly pick up a different color by holding down the option key, and your paint bucket will quickly toggle to the eyedropper mode - sampling colors. So I'm going to sample this background green color and let go of the option key or the Alt key on the PC, and just move into my dandelion and click once. And you can see that it's quickly filling with my foreground color. I could of course choose to fill with something different from the fill pull down menu at the options bar at the top of the computer screen. I could choose from foreground or my currently selected pattern. And if I choose pattern, then I can go to this popup list of various patterns, and choose the pattern to fill with. I'm just going to go ahead and click off of that popup list. And you can see that it's just filling with a pattern instead of my foreground color. I'm going to choose a different document here, my cow picture. And I'll option select the color for my grass and go up to my sky. Which has a very similar looking color throughout. And click once, and you can see that it does a pretty good job of immediately filling the sky with that particular sampled color.
