Subtitles of the Movie

A shape layer in Photoshop, as you can see from my layers palette, is really a colored fill that has been created from the adjustment layers, choose solid color here, attached to a vector mask. What we can of course create our own custom vector masks, and they work very much like shapes, but instead of showing simply a solid color, we would use that shape as a mask to mask out something. So I have my dandelion flower here. And what I want to do is with my flower, and making sure this layer is selected, go to the layer menu and choose add vector mask. And notice one of our options is to choose current path if I had a path selected. But I don't have one selected, so I'm going to choose reveal all. So I'll create a vector mask no net effect, and then from my shape tools (I'm going to make sure that I am using mask or path mode), I could of course choose any one of these custom shapes, but I'll just stick with the one I have selected. And I'll just drag it out. And notice what's happened is that Photoshop has used my custom shape to create a vector mask, masking out the flower.
