Ah yes, super snail. I'm going to hit the tab key and just take a look at my image and think about it for a moment. And one thing that I can see is that my cows just don't have the kind of punch that I'm looking for - they don't really look very interesting on top of my snail. So I'm going to do something different with my cows. And what I'm going to do is colorize them, and of course I'm going to use layers to do that. So, I'm going to create a new empty layer. And one of the cool things you can do with Photoshop of course is to load a selection based on where there is layer data and where there is not. Gee, so look at the snail here for a moment. You can see on my thumbnail that there is pixel data here of the snail floating on transparency. Well, that is essentially a mask, isn't it? So what I can do is load this selection of what's called the transparency mask. And one way you can do that of course is go to select menu>load selection, and choose cow copy 4 transparency - and it will load that as a selection. But, the way I prefer to do is to command click right on the thumbnail here. And notice when I hold the command key down, I get this little pointing finger with a selection icon around it. And that means all I need to do is click on it and it will load that transparency information as a selection. So, since I have a selection active, I want to fill this layer. So I am going to target this layer, and I'm going to choose a bright yellow. Edit menu>fill, and I am going to make sure that preserve transparency is off, because I want it to fill in my selection. Deselect. Well, that's a little too contrasty, and it really doesn't show my cows very well. So I'm going to use one of my amazing collections of my blending modes here, and shop around for an interesting kind of blending mode that will mix the yellow pixel data here with the underlying image - in this case my cows. And of course they are in perfect registration. So I'll get some very nice effects this way. And I think that's looking pretty good. And it will be overlay. I might dial down my opacity a bit. And there you have it - super snail.
