I've opened up the file folder I have on my desktop where I've been saving these files; I just want to briefly draw your attention to a few things here. Notice that first of all, all of these files have a small thumbnail preview except the last one, which I chose the save for web option. Save for web does not add a small preview. One of the important things about saving for web is to make your file size as small as possible. So adding a small thumbnail will actually add to your file size. So that's why the save for the web feature does not add that small preview icon. Also notice my TIFF image here, which I had collapsed all the layers and ran an LZW loss-less compression scheme, created a fairly small file size, a little bit less than half a megabyte. The JPEG version is also very small, 132 kilobytes. And the JPEG version of course runs a lossy type of compression over the image. And sometimes if you compress too much, it will introduce some unfortunate artefacts. But I'm going to open this image by double clicking on it. And check it out. I'll double click on the zoom tool, and this looks pretty good compared to the original. So I recommend running types of compression, depending on your final usage of the image. But I also always recommend saving your document as a Photoshop format for working versions of your image.
