At any time you can of course easily add a guide to your image by dragging a guide out of the top or left ruler area. Another option you have is under the view menu, choose new guide, and it will bring up the new guide dialogue box asking you if you want a vertical, horizontal guide. And you can type in the precise position of your guide. Currently I'm working in inches, but I can also type in something, say 50 px, and my new guide will be a vertical guide placed at 50-pixels from the left edge. And of course, we can always delete a guide by going to the guide with our mover tool, and just dragging it up into the ruler bar. And it will be deleted. You can lock guides by choosing lock guides under the view menu, and now of course I cannot move the guides because they are locked. If I wish, I can easily get rid of all my guides by choosing view menu>clear guides and they will be deleted from my image.
