With an image like this, you can see they very quickly, when I add multiple layers, your layer palette can get very long indeed. So sometimes, what I like to do is add folders in my layers palette, and drag items into the folder to make it a little bit easier to manage collections of items that I want to be together. For instance, I've created my little snail here and added five cows around the snail's shell. So what I'm going to do is click on the folder icon and you can see what it does is it adds this folder directly in my layers palette list of layers. What I can do is just drag the thumbnail right into the folder, and notice that when an item is inside my folder, it's a little bit offset to the right of the folder. So I'm going to go ahead and drag some more items in, and all you need to do is drag it right on top of the folder icon and notice when it's highlighted, the folder icon opens up. And of course, we can reorder any of these items inside of our folder. I'll just double click on the folder name, and call this one snail cows, and close the folder. And one nice feature of doing that is with a closed folder, with my folder selected, anytime I move one of the items inside the folder, since my folder is currently closed, all of these items act as if they are linked. We can of course go ahead and click on the triangle icon next to the folder in the layers palette, open that up and select any individual layer by clicking on its name of thumbnail and then move it wherever you wish inside that collection in the folder. I'll go ahead and undo that. Another nice feature of folders is the ability to instantly create a folder for linked objects. So notice my flowers in the background here are all linked together. So with having selected one flower with all its associated linked flowers also enabled, go to the layers palette menu and choose new set from linked. I'll just call this one flowers. And now it's added all of my linked items into its own folder set. But you can see that I've made the thumbnails list in my layers palette much more manageable by collecting items that I want to always be associated together in their own folder set. One important thing to remember though, is if you throw away one of these folders, it will throw away everything inside it.
