Getting Started / Mistakes
Subtitles of the Movie
Photoshop is very forgiving of mistakes, if you understand how it manage your files, and understand how you can step back through all the edits that you have made. Like most applications you can always undo the last thing you did, but in Photoshop you can actually step back as many undos as you have memory for. So I'm going to make one mark here, and let's say that that's a terrible mistake, well no problem. You can always go to the edit menu and choose undo commands + 'Z'. And it will undo the last thing that I did. Which in this case was this brush mark. I'm going to make several brush marks and several mistakes here, oh no this is terrible. Well what I can do of course is step back through all these various mistakes. So, I'm going to go to undo and then one of the options I have is to step backwards. If I choose undo again it will redo, so command + 'Z' will undo and redo the last thing that you did. Which in this case was that last brush mark. Step backwards will continue to go backwards from the last mark or edit that you made. So in this way you can step back to previous states. For what it's worth, I could also do that by using the history palette. So I am going to the window menu and choose history, and you can see the history palette is designed to save, in this case it's programmed to save the last 20 edits. And we can just step back to whichever particular edit we wish. Well if you've made a complete disaster of your document, you always have the option to revert - under file menu choose revert. And Photoshop will revert the image to the last saved state. So it's a great way to getting back to a starting point, or managing different editing steps.
