Getting Started / Saving Workspaces

Subtitles of the Movie

One nice new addition to Adobe Photoshop 7 is the ability to save workspaces. And what this really relates to is the way you have designed palettes on your screen. For instance, I'm almost always working with the layers palette. So what I'm going to do is drag these other palettes out of the way here. And I'll drag my layers palette up and I will expand this palette so it's very long, because I'm very often adding many different layers and want to access these layers quickly. So with my new palette arrangement setup on my computer screen, I'm going to go to the window menu and choose from these top two items here workspace - I'll choose save workspace. And all that does is it brings up a dialogue box asking me to name my workspace, so I'll just call it 'ajh1 layers'. And I'll click save. Now if I make changes to my workspace here, and want to get back to that arrangement of palettes, it's quite simple. I can go to the window menu, choose workspace and notice that that item is been added to the bottom of my list. And if I choose it, it simply rearranges my palettes to the saved state of that workspace. We can always get back to the default settings by choosing window menu>workspace>reset palette locations. And it will generate the default palette arrangements. And finally, if you wish, you could delete a workspace item that you saved, if you wish, by choosing delete workspace. And it will bring up this pull down list of all the various workspace settings that you've saved. And there's only the one that I have here, so I'll just choose delete and delete that one.
