Navigating the Document / Navigating Pages
Subtitles of the Movie
Well, here we are in our Peppers document again. I've added a few pages because in this movie I'm going to show you how to move through pages. It's fairly basic stuff but there's so many different ways of doing it in InDesign it's best that you know them all and apply the most efficient to your own workflow. We're on the first page at the moment and if we want to move we can move from the Layout Menu, simply choose one of these options. You can see this second section here, this is really the section dealing with moving from page to page. Some are dimmed out because they're not available at the moment. We'll just go to Next Page like that. So it moves to the next page, Page 2, now when we pull it down you see we've got First Page, Previous Page are now available, if we want to move back there. Go to Last Page moves to the last page in the document and here we can choose go to Previous Spread. So, it moves to the pages before that. Also from this menu we can move to a specific page. Go to Page and then we can just type in the number. I'll type in 4 like that, click on OK and there we've moved to that page. So that's one way of moving around. Another way is down here at the bottom through these options here. We've got the buttons. We can move to the First Page in the document, conversely the Last Page. It's calling it the Last Spread but it's just a single page in this particular document. We can Move Back one Spread at a time just by clicking here, or Forward. We can also choose a page we go to, Page 2, 3, there's another one, Page 7 and 8, we move down there and we move up to 4 like that. You can type in the number if you know it. I'll type in 8 we go to Page 8, come to Page 1, hit Enter or Return and there we move up to Page 1. Another way we can move about is through the Pages Panel. I have it in my Panels down at the side here but if you don't have it available go to Window and choose Pages. Ctrl- or Cmd-F12 is the Shortcut key. So I'll bring it out here and there we can just scroll through, see which Spread we want and simply double-click in the page and we go to double-click, you want to go to your Spread, double-click like that on the numbers and it takes you to the Spread. Now you'll notice in this Pages Panel that we can actually see a preview of what the page looks like and you can make these bigger, but we do get into that when we talk about the Pages Panel specifically. Let me just close that out and we can also scroll like that through our pages and as we learned in the previous movie we can use the PAR Scroll, so we can hold down the Spacebar or Hand Grabber, press and keep held down and then just scroll up through the pages like that as we saw in the previous movie. Release when you get to the page you want. So, definitely, a number of different ways to get from one part of your document to another and, as I said, just choose the most efficient for your own use.
